I am so excited about the new Recipe/Photo Box from Close to My Heart!!
At our monthly CTMH meeting Saturday, we we able to play with one of these! I am amazed by all the options that are available with it! Not only can it hold recipes and photos, like the name says, but it could also be used to hold your handmade cards or even be used for a small gift box!
I just had a fun idea - I know, rare occurrence, huh? - How about using it as a gift box, for Christmas or birthday or something with a special person. You give it the first time, and then you pass it back and forth each time, with the challenge being that the gift can't be the same one it was before, and it has to fit in the box and it has to be in the same price range. I'm wondering if I can work that out with my sister ... hmm!
My first box I made as a recipe box, and I filled it with our Sugar and Spice Card Kit. It's very neat, isn't it? You can even decorate your own dividers; and you'll have plenty of stickers left over for maybe even other projects.
My finished project looks like this.
Do you want to make your own box? Follow the steps below!!
Step 1: Order a Recipe/Photo Box from your favorite Close to My Heart consultant!
Step 2: Choose what paper you'd like to use to cover your box - I used pieces of three sheets.
Step 3: If you want to make it as a recipe box, also purchase the Sugar and Spice Card Kit or the Let's Get Together Recipe Card Kit.
Step 4: Wait for your box/paper to arrive.
Step 5: Open the newly arrived box from UPS or the recently delivered bag from your favorite CTMH consultant with glee!
Step 6: Take your box and your paper to your preferred working space.
Step 7: Gather the following: these measurements, Euro Personal Paper Cutter, coordinating ink, sponge, adhesive of choice (My upline recommends Bonding Memories Glue, but I used E-Z Runner Scrapbook Adhesives and it seems to have worked fine). For a long-lasting seal, use Modge Podge to adhere paper and then as a finishing coat.
Step 8: Sponge all outside edges of box with your coordinating ink.
Step 9: Begin cutting with your Euro Personal Paper Cutter using the following measurements:
Measurements may need to be adjusted plus or minus 1/8" depending on how your box was assembled ...
Lid (inside and outside): 6 1/8" x 3.5"
Back: 6" x 4 3/8"
Sides: 4 3/8" x 3 3/8"
Front: 6 1/8" x 4 3/8"
Flap (inside and outside): 6 1/8" x 2 1/2"
Step 10: Adhere all pieces except for the front and the flap.
Step 11: For front piece, place your front piece onto your box. Either trace from the back where you want to cut out or make marks on the front and then cut around it, moving in 1/8" to allow for a border. The piece you're cutting out should be approximately one inch deep. Then adhere piece. Another option, adhere the front piece, and then cut diagonally in both corners and fold back and adhere. With this, you won't have your 1/8" border around that part.
Step 12: For the flap, lay your piece of paper where you'd like it to go, and then carefully flip the box over and trace around the curve. Either cut 1/8" in from your traced line or cut on your traced line, and then 1/8" off the flat end. Repeat ... or trace this piece for your inside flap or use the scrap that you cut out and trace it onto your second piece, and then cut off the 1/8" from either side. Adhere piece.
Step 13: Decorate box as desired.
Step 14: If you purchased the recipe card kit, make your dividers and place them and recipe cards in recipe box.
Step 15: If you want to use the box as a photo box or card box, make your dividers to go inside the box. Dividers should be 6" x 4" before adding your flap.
Step 16: Enjoy your box!!

I also used paper from the Cherry-O Level 2 Paper Pack and the Cherry-O Creative Basics Collection. And I think I added one sticker from the Cherry-O My Stickease Assortment.
